IM-SP401A is a 40A high power PCB relay primarily designed for electrical vehicle charging stations, charging cables, and photovoltaic inverter applications.
The extended contact gap (> 1.8 mm) of this relay provides improved isolation and allows usage in harsh environments.
It has low temperature rise, low power consumption, 1000A 1ms/three times short-time over-current, and cost-effectivence advantage.
Other applications include stand-by power units, washing machines, and dryer disconnections.

AC switching elements are a crucial part of safety and protection function in charging stations and cables. Relays are used for safety cutoff purposes for the AC side power grid of a charging station. When an abnormal current is generated, it is important to securely cut the current so that it doesn't impact the charger or DC side power supply. High-capacity relays are required as safety measures for protecting such electric power systems. which can be used in the ev chargers which fulfill either IEC 61851-1 or the recent IEC 62955 norm.
EV-Charging is carried out via wall charging stations (wall boxes) or by using charging cables with integrated electronics (IC-CPD). Products that are used here must comply with current standards such as IEC62752 for IC-CPD mode 2 charging, or with IEC61851-1 for charging in accordance with mode 3 for wall boxes. These standards carry stringent requirement, for example with respect to the ability to withstand significant short-circuits. Fortunately for hardware designers of EVSE systems, IVY's IM-SP401A power relay was developed specifically for use in accordance with IEC61810-1, more importantly, to meet the exceedingly stringent short-circuit withstand-current requirements of this standard.
